Concordia Maritime supports Mercy Ships through Mercy Ships Cargo Day

For the first time ever, the global shipping and trading communities work together during the Mercy Ships Cargo Day to raise support for Mercy Ships, an NGO operating the world’s largest private hospital ship, serving in the poorest countries in the world.

Mercy Ships is a compassionate response to a world in need, bringing first world medical services to those most in need. Through the deployment of the world’s largest, private hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, Mercy Ships works with host nations to help fill the gaps in health care systems, while serving the dire and immediate needs of their population.

Access to quality healthcare in Africa is still very complicated, especially in the more rural or remote areas of the continent. Too many people are still dying or put aside of society for illnesses or handicaps that are easily treatable in our modern developed countries. Since 1978, Mercy Ships has provided services and materials in developing nations valued at over $1 billion impacting more that 2.5 million direct beneficiaries, through 587 port visits.

Thanks to the combined action of the shipping and trading community through the Cargo day, Mercy Ships can continue using its hospital ship in order to help the lives of millions of people in need.
